NATO20: Animus in Consulendo Liber (“In Discussion, a Free Mind”)

NATO20: Animus in Consulendo Liber (“In Discussion, a Free Mind”)

Marking the twentieth anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in NATO, the exhibition NATO20: Animus in consulendo liber opened at the Centre for Civil Education on 29 March 2024. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the history of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, explore the principles of collective defence, and discover advanced technologies being developed in Lithuania that contribute to NATO security.

The exhibition features several dozen diverse exhibits, ranging from cutting-edge technologies currently under development in Lithuania to an unmanned aerial vehicle, telecommunications equipment, and even NATO soldiers’ field rations. As with other exhibitions at the Centre, visitors are encouraged not only to observe but also to actively participate and engage with the displays through interactive elements. This time, the designers have incorporated gamified features into a round table that serves as the central symbol of the exhibition and of dialogue itself. Notably, the chairs arranged around the table were used during the 2023 NATO Summit held in Lithuania. To commemorate the event, the exhibition also includes authentic items from the summit – armchairs, chairs, and a podium – as well as a specially produced short film.
