Lithuania’s Path to Energy Independence

undefined

This exhibition tells the story of one of the most significant chapters in modern history of Lithuania – the country’s journey from complete energy dependence to an independent, modern energy system integrated into Europe. Over the past three decades, Lithuania has implemented strategic decisions, built new infrastructure, and fundamentally transformed its energy sector – the synchronization of Lithuania’s electricity grid with continental Europe brought an end to 65 years of dependence on the eastern power system.

At the exhibition, visitors will not only learn about the key events but also experience them firsthand. A chronological timeline highlights key milestones – from the challenges of Lithuania’s early years of independence to the historic synchronization with continental Europe – while interactive displays allow visitors to explore how the energy system works, from grid synchronization to the principles of energy generation and storage.

Through visual materials, original artifacts, and immersive elements, the exhibition shows that energy independence is the result of consistent technological solutions, political will, and long-term strategic vision.
